Good ICT and Computing skills are vital for todays world. Our aim is to equip students with the relevant techniques, skills and knowledge to cope with the ICT and Computing requirements of both further education or the modern workplace.

We offer a varied curriculum that covers traditional ICT and the newer computing requirements from the DFE. Students follow a range of examination qualification based on their individual needs. Further details can be found via the curriculum content links on this page. We have excellent links with external organisations. We are currently working in partnership with Southampton University on a 3 month programming project that utilises the Microsoft Kinnect to control educational software. Our Yr 11 students are working closely with a PHD student designing a prototype educational game.

ICT and Computing is a developing subject area at New Forest School. We have a new senior school computer suite with high spec Dell computers, interactive whiteboard, high speed fibre internet connection and wi-fi. The room has been redesigned to provide space for computer or theory based lessons. Similarly, our new Junior classrooms have 1:1 computer provision with short throw digital projectors available to staff and students. Students are also able to access a large number of computers or laptops in most other teaching rooms. This is enhanced with a growing range of technology designed to support specific subject ares. For example, Music benefits from a recording studio, Science has invested in a multi-sensor data logger and Food Technology has dedicated laptops and access to digital cameras to record the mazing work that is produced.

Extra Curricular

Students enjoy supervised access to computers at break time, lunch times and through an after school club.
