Focus
The long-term aim is to focus use of our Sandown Site to deliver a more Tailored curriculum offer for key stage three and four students who are unable to access a traditional academic curriculum.
Facilities
The site currently comprises of a main school building with 2 classrooms, a 1:1 work room, and office. The building houses a dedicated food technology room.
Students can access local amenities at breaks and lunch times.
Students
Students come from a variety of social backgrounds, with a range of educational, social and emotional needs. The school will specialise in working with students with ASC, SEMH, attachment disorders and areas of mental health. Many of the students will have been out of fulltime education for a significant length of time.
Students will be supported to access a predominantly tailored curriculum that provides access to core subjects, a range of practical subjects (Art, Food Technology, Construction, PE and Outdoor Education) whilst ensuring opportunities for therapeutic support and input. Some subjects such as construction, and animal management will make use of shared, offsite facilities.
Children will require an EHCP to be referred to the school with places usually being commissioned by Local Authorities.
The school will offer full time and part time attendance to meet the needs of individual students. The school focuses on students from Year 7-9.
